About Us

Stockport Bramhall Hockey Club was formed in 2011 following the merger of Stockport Hockey Ladies Club and Bramhall Hockey Men's Club. The aim of the merger was to create a club for all in Stockport and improve the development of junior hockey in the area. The merger means that the Club now runs multiple Men’s and Ladies teams of all abilities and has a thriving Junior Section.

Ladies Club History

Stockport Hockey Club was formed in 2007 following the merger of the Stockport & District Women’s Hockey League Teams: Forest, Reddish, Edgeley, Stockport and Hadfield Ladies hockey clubs. The League had been established for over 85 years and although focused on grass roots hockey, nurtured players who went onto play for their County and even Country!

Men's Club History

Bramhall Hockey Club was established in 1902 in the Cheshire village of Bramhall and is one of the oldest clubs in the North West. The Club celebrated its centenary year in the 2002/3 season. The Club has a long history of developing players and has had several players represent their Countries or Regions.

Our coaches are the best of the best! They have a wealth of experience between them and a lot of years both coaching and playing hockey themselves.

Dom Lloyd (Junior Co-ordinator & Coach) & Jon Lloyd (Coach) - "Sports have always been our passion, especially hockey, swimming and athletics. Our hockey journey began watching our sister play in the Greater Manchester Youth Games, leading us to our first training session at Heaton Moor Junior Hockey Club. After training there from ages 5 to 13, we played for Stockport Bramhall and also represented Greater Manchester and the North West, even becoming National Champions with Pennine Pumas in 2017. We briefly played for Bowdon before returning to Stockport Bramhall, where we achieved multiple promotions. We started coaching young, assisting at Heaton Moor and school teams. After school, we completed a Level 3 Apprenticeship and various coaching qualifications across multiple sports. Coaching hockey is a passion, complementing our full-time work in football and other primary school sports, allowing us to share our extensive coaching and playing knowledge with players." Dom and Jon play on our M1 team, one as an attacker and one as defender so we get great match play insight from them as a pair.

Dave Brierley (Coach) - "I got into sport at a very early age due to a very sporty Dad; cricket in the garden, swimming every Sunday or out on bikes whenever he was around. The school I went to was a very big football school, but that wasn't for me. My PE teacher played rugby for our local club and so a few of us went down to training and I loved it. This was my gateway in to team sports. I started with indoor hockey for a local club at 16 and played hockey on a Saturday and rugby on a Sunday. Injury meant I had to step back from rugby so hockey became my focus. I moved to Bramhall at 25 and played for the M1's then captained the 2's for 4 years. My son's hockey club never had enough coaches so I volunteered to support then did my level 1 and started coaching a couple of years later also doing my level 2. I have been involved with county Cheshire hockey, have taken several teams to North titles (boys and girls) and have worked at many local clubs. I have always loved working at Stockport Bramhall the most, there is such a big community to this club. My best moments have been working with the Juniors at the club, watching them grow into excellent, competitive adult players." Dave has coached at SBHC for 20 years. His daughter is an adult player at SBHC who progressed through our Junior section and his son has played for North of England.

Jamie White (Welfare Officer & Coach) - "I've loved playing sport since as long as I can remember whether that's hockey, football, cricket or golf. I first played hockey when I was in primary school but didn't pick up a stick again until university and have been a hockey keeno ever since! I've been coaching for 11 years at a number of clubs in Hull, Durham and now SBHC gaining both my level 1 and 2 along the way. I got in to coaching because I loved helping both juniors and adults improve. The most satisfying thing is seeing some of the Juniors I have coached as U11s now playing senior hockey for the Men's and Ladies teams". Jamie plays midfield on our M1 team.

Oscar Brown (Coach) - "Growing up, football and cricket were a big part of my life. Weekends all year round were reserved for sport. I was somewhat roped into cricket coaching at age 14, but quickly found enjoyment in it. This was my first taste of coaching and I loved it! In 2018, I went to University in Leeds, this is where I first picked up a hockey stick. Since then, it has become a sort of obsession. In 2022, I joined SBHC initially playing M2s, now I play CB for the M1s. Being immensely competitive, winning is what I love the most, and there’s no better way to do that then with the top players in the club. Aside from playing, coaching was always something I wanted to get back into. Becoming the mixed team coach has been terrific! The dynamic and rewarding nature is what I find the most fulfilling; witnessing individuals progress, allowing them to realise their potential and seeing them succeed are what keeps me hooked. The feeling of making a meaningful difference to those who play at SBHC gives me great joy. I am proud to coach at this club." Oscar plays CB on our M1 team.

Adam Jones (Coach) - "I started playing hockey at age 9 when they built the astro at Peel Moat. I joined Bramhall HC in 2005 when it was just a Men's club, I'm currently M1 Captain and have been Captain of the M1 or M2 for 8 seasons! I have been coaching for 24 years both at Junior and Senior Level and was a coach for the Greater Manchester girls teams for many years, even working with players that have gone on to represent England and Great Britain. I have coached at SBHC for 15 years and was the Stockport Ladies HC coach before, during and after the merger with Bramhall Men's HC. In my time at SBHC I have coached the L1s, L2s, L3s and L4s am currently coaching the Juniors. My coaching ideology is all about ensuring that the players in my sessions / teams enjoy the sport and flourish in a positive environment, where they feel happy and comfortable to learn and develop their skills and knowledge. My biggest motivation when coaching is witnessing the development of my players and seeing a player that plays with a smile on their face". Adam plays midfield and is the Captain of our M1 team.

Lauren Stevens (Support) & Joe Stevens (Support). Lauren plays CB and is the Captain of our L1 team, she started at the club as one of Juniors. Joe plays upfront and is on our M1 team, he also started at the club as one of Juniors.
