About

Our Junior Section is run by Dom Lloyd who is one of our fantastic coaches as well as Junior Co-ordinator (Check out our 'Meet Our Coaches' page for more info on Dom).

All our Junior Coaches have a high level of qualification and experience of working with young people, some of them play for the club, even starting out in the SBHC Junior Section themselves! Our sessions focus on fun as well as improving the children’s skill level. We spot, nurture and grow talent. Those that are ready and capable are encouraged and prepared for Manchester County hockey programmes.

The safeguarding of young people is at the heart of everything we do at SBHC; all people working with or around young people have necessary police checks. Please see more information on the safeguarding of young people in our 'Policies' Section.

Admin

  • The junior section runs from the Teamo App. The App enables you to receive all the important club information and ensure we have the correct contact information should we need it.
  • !!Before attending a session parents / guardians must have!!:
  1. Downloaded the Teamo App
  2. Created a profile for the Guardian AND a profile for the child(ren).

If you want to try our club without committing, you can attend up to 3 sessions before registering and paying our annual subscription. You can delete the Teamo App if you don’t join.

Moving to Senior Hockey

  • A young player will be considered for adult league hockey over the age of 13 (on 1st Sept of the season being played) to play in adult only competition. Exception is in the case of development teams where the minimum age is 12.
  • Young players will only be called upon to play adult league hockey when it is in the best interest of the young player. A young player must be ready socially, physically, emotionally and mentally to be selected, as agreed between parents / guardians and coach.
  • Where possible, young player’s first match experiences should be for lower teams (or appropriate friendly), in order to develop appropriate experience of senior 11-a-side match play. Playing for the Mixed Team is a brilliant gateway in to adult hockey (Check out our 'Mixed Hockey' page for further info).
